Guts and Balls.

Posted: June 2nd, 2010 | Author: | Filed under: Uncategorized | Tags: | No Comments »

There is a medical distinction between Guts and Balls.  We’ve all heard about people having Guts or Balls. But do you really know the difference between them?

In an effort to keep you informed, here are the definitions:

GUTS – Is arriving home late after a night out with the guys, being met by your wife with a broom, and having the Guts to ask: ‘Are you still cleaning,  or are you flying somewhere?’

BALLS – Is coming home late after a night out with the guys, smelling of perfume and beer, lipstick on your collar, slapping your wife on the butt and having the Balls to say: ‘You’re next, Chubby.’

I hope this clears up any confusion on the definitions.

Medically, speaking there is no difference in the outcome.

Both result in death.

Perspective or Prospective?

Posted: August 4th, 2009 | Author: | Filed under: Uncategorized | Tags: | No Comments »

Часто в переводнах на английский встречается: “complete business perspective”…

Perspective means “point of view, especially the ability to see the whole of something.” In art, it specifically means the ability to present three dimensional objects using a two dimensional medium. Perspective is normally a noun.

The prefix per- means “completely.”

Prospective means “future or potential” and is normally an adjective. The noun form is prospect.

The prefix pro- means “forward.”

The Latin root of both words, -spect-, means “to see.” So perspective literally means “seeing completely” and prospective means “seeing ahead.”

Термин “debugging” (обезжучивание) имеет глубокие корни – он появился в тот день, когда перестал работать компьютер Гарвардского университета Марк 1 (это был такой здоровый гроб размером с большую комнату на заре появления кампутиров). После долгих поисков техники обнаружили небольшую моль, попавшую между контактами реле. Они удалили моль и внесли запись в сменный журнал о процессе под названием “debugging”, произведенном над Марком.
C тех пор дебагом называют поиск и устранение глюков )
